Blessing of the Animals

An opportunity to invite friends and neighbors with their beloved pets!

Celebrate the Feast of St. Francis:
Blessing of the Animals

Join us on Sunday, October 4, 2026, following the 10:00 a.m. worship service at Church in the Forest, for our annual Blessing of the Animals in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment.

Bring your beloved pets—dogs, cats, horses, and even the tiniest companions — to the grassy area under the flagpole for a special prayer and blessing. All pets are welcome! For their safety and comfort, please ensure they are appropriately leashed or contained.

Everyone deserves a blessing—furry, feathered, or otherwise!

Go Deeper: Extend your care to animals in need by donating time, pet food, or gently used blankets and towels to the local animal shelter. It’s a meaningful way to live out the spirit of St. Francis.

Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures.
You called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air, and animals on the land.
You inspired St. Francis to call all of them his brothers and sisters.
We ask you to bless this pet.
By the power of your love, enable it to live according to your plan.
May we always praise you for all your beauty in creation.
Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen.
